What are the Odds?
October 25, 2016
On a windy October afternoon in Bowmansville, Aaron Marines beat the odds. According to Golf Digest, an amateur golfer has only a 12,500 to 1 chance of making a hole-in-one. Sunday afternoon, Aaron got that chance on a 315 yard, par 4 hole with a heavily bunkered and elevated green at Hawk Valley. So hold your club for minute, what are the odds of making a double eagle? According to EasyPars.com,
“…if the odds of a hole-in-one for an amateur golfer is 1 in 12,500, which is the agreed upon odds for a hole-in-one, then the odds of an amateur golfer making a double eagle would be 1 in 2.5 million.”
Whether it’s one in 12,500 or one in 2.5 million, every golfer knows this is a moment to celebrate. Congratulations, Aaron!
