Judicious Jokes: Some Legal Holiday Humor
“There’s nothing funnier than a lawyer,” said no one ever (except maybe lawyers who laugh at their own jokes). However, the law does lead to some funny situations, especially around the holidays. I’ve rounded up a few of the funniest legal mishaps and tidbits related to the holidays for your reading pleasure. Hopefully a few of these make you laugh and take away some of the stress that comes with the holiday season.
- First up, we visit some of the Most Outrageous Christmas Crimes. Faking a heart attack to cover up theft and stabbing someone with a ceramic squirrel are definitely not on my Christmas 2023 BINGO card.
- Next is a collection of some of the most Bizarre Christmas Laws. The good news is that employees in Mexico are safe from receiving a subscription to the Jelly of the Month Club as a holiday bonus.
- For those lawyers struggling to find the holiday spirit, a kind lawyer codified the sentiment by translating the classic holiday hit “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” into statutory language. This is now the only version of this song I will sing to my children. They will be thrilled.
- Finally, I’ll leave you with something that isn’t necessarily law related, but brings out the argumentative nature in nearly everyone I know: a list of the Greatest Christmas Movies of All Time. Maybe its finally time to put the debate to rest and agree that “Die Hard” is, in fact, a Christmas Movie.
